I'm having such a ball going through old things and adding fun stuff to them! I want to share another piece with you that I just finished and listed on Etsy. Here is the before pic.
I made this is 1994 when I first started working with recycled quilty things. These blocks were from an old tied quilt that was really falling apart. Example of before block below.
I removed the 4 patch in the center and replaced it with white feedsacking to match the background of the block. Then I used the 4 patch fabric to make the butterflies. I felt like it needed a little more 'oomph' so I added some of my beloved vintage rickrack and a few more buttons as well as replacing the center yoyos with a flower. I love the sweet pastels in this piece.
I think I like it even better now. It's backed with an old patched table cover and wrapped to the front for binding.
