A pincushion maybe? I really have no idea!
Who knows, but it looks pretty.
What à wonderful trip you are doing!
The technique of the star is of a biscornu, if you Google this you will find many pictures and even tutorials.
I guess you could anything with this star depending on its size, doorstep, pin cushion?
Happy day,
Jacoba
Using my iPad I typed a few mistakes there: doorstop, of course. I forgot to mention that for sure it is very pretty!
Your coastal trip is wonderful, I have done that many times on ocean liners - wonderful part of the world: Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Acapulco.
I found your blog because of your sailing quilt picture. It has inspired me to start a blog on the sailing quilt I want to start next fall/winter.
Nice to follow you!
Being from California can you believe I have never been to San Francisco? Please eat lots of yummy seafood for me. No clue what your treasure is but it sure is pretty.
Ohhhhh! Lucky You! DH and I lived in THe Bay Area almost 30 years ago, before we had children. I loved it there, still as pretty as ever!
Hmmmmm. . . . your quilty star thingy?? I say it's a quilty star thingy! Haha! No really, no idea, but as usual, I've hardly ever met a vintage quilty doo-dad that I didn't love!! :)
Safe Travels!

How fun! My husband just took our oldest daughter to SF for a little vacay before school starts. She will be in first grade. They went to the GGbridge and Fisherman's Wharf, did some hiking and went to the beach, and today drove down to Monterrey. They will be doing 16 mile drive and stopping in Santa Barbara where we gotmarried before heading home.
I left my heart in San Franciso....
It's awesome that is what it is! It looks like those metal stars you can buy to hang from the ceiling as decoration.
It seems too big for a pin cushion - but then again, I think of the giant tomato my mom had - so maybe. Was it heavy / have a hole or opening on one side? Maybe it was a poor families christmas star?
Great find what ever it is!
Cheers,
Carolyn
Hope you are enjoying your vacation! Looks like you're having lovely weather. :)
Not sure about your little 30's fabric star...sure is pretty though.
Seems like it would make a handy pin cushion.
